1886, there was a mercyful and intelligent man Dr.Jekyll invented a drink as he thought it was possible to divide a person in to two. The good part and the bad part.... So Dr. Jekyll is divided into Dr.Jekyll himself and Mr.Hyde. Hyde commits lots of crimes. Murder, robbery and so on. When Dr.Jekyll tried to change in to Hyde, it was easy. However, about 5 months later, Dr.Jekyll himself was becoming Mr.Hyde. Eventhough he did not tried to become Hyde, he became Hyde. One day he decided to tell the truth. While he was being chased by polices, he went in to his laboratory and committed suicide. On his will, there was the real story of him. Hyde and Jekyll.

If i tell the truth, I thought Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde were different people before I read this book.... How foolish am I....!@!@!@!@!@!@

Frankenstein

This book was quite scary but still an interesting book. I thought the Frankenstein was the name of the creature which was created by Dr. Stein. However, the doctor himself was Frankenstein.

I actually remember the whole out line of the story.

There was a man with a sledge on Antarctica. The explorers found him and the man's story began. I think this was the start of the story.

A "creature" was created by Frankenstein. One day, the creature escaped from Frankenstein's laboratory. However, the creature was a good polite and kind creature. However, people regarded it as a monster who eats up humans. One day, there was a poor family with a blind man. 2 or 3 daughters of the man served him. When the daughters went out, the creature delivered what he gained by working. He gave them money, wood, and food secretly. One day, when the 2 daughters were not at home, the creature went in to the house to meet the blind man. While they were talking, the daughters came and chased the creature. As he felt abandoned and left out, it burned the house. During it's journey, it meets Frankenstein's relative. He was a young boy who loved Frankenstein. The creature hated Frankenstein and killed the boy. When Frankenstein and the creature meet each other again, the creature requested it's creator to create another creature, a woman creature. Frankenstein achieve it almost but stopped just before the creature created. The creature kills franken's whole family. After that Franken chases the creature. On antartica, he meets a group of people and tells his story and finally die.

The creature do not have name. I think the author did not gave the creature it's name. I think this was one way to show the loneiness of the creature.

Wuthering Height

This book was kind of a scary book which ends with happy ending. I could not think of any ghosts in this story but the ghosts appeared.



Mr.Rock Wood asked Mr. Heathcliff to stay in a mansion of Wuthering Height. Mr.Lockwood feels bad due to Mr.Heathcliff's attitude against him. In that night, Mr.Lockwood meets a ghost in his room. When Mr.Lockwood told this to Mr.Heathcliff, he cried and cried over the night.

Heathcliff was a guy who was adopted from Liverpool to the wuthering height. Heathcliff was named after his step father's dead son. Heathcliff gained the total love from his step father. That was why Hindely, the origianl(?) real(?) not immitation (?) son of Mr.Earnshow, the owner of the wuthring height, hated Heathcliff. When Earnshow dies, Hindely treat Heathcliff as a servant and slave.

Heathcliff runs away from the wuthering height and comeback as a millionaire and make Hindely's life as a begger by gambling. Hindely dies. Heathcliff marries to Esabella to destroy her life. Heathcliff's real lover was Catherine who was dead already. ~~~~ Heathcliff revenges on every people related to Hindely and his family.

This was Heathcliff's life. Mr.Rockwood leaves the wuthering height. Few years later, when Mr.Rockwood came back, it was no longer a cold, devilish house anymore. Heathcliff was dead and his inheritants received the house and made it as beatiful, flower ful(?) house.

My Brother Sam Is Dead

............ what an unattractive title....I thought this book would be very boring. However, from the first page..!!!! What a Great book!!! This book is about United State of America versus Great Britain during the battle for independance of Americans. Tim, Sam and their parents were running a tavern. AND THE STORY STARTS...One day in Redding....

Sam, who was a patriot, enlisted to the rebel army. The parents disagree with it but he already did it. Sam stole his father's gun and ran away. Tim knew where Sam was staying. When the rebel army came and demanded for the gun, Tim ran to Sam's hut and stole it back. However, Tim was ceased by Sam. When Tim came back, he found out his parents were spared. One day, Sam disappeared. He was in army of America. He called the British army as Robsters as their army uniforms were in red.

Time had passed. One day, Tim's neighbor asked Tim and his father to deliver a message to a person of another town. They reject at the first time, however, they do it as Tim wanted. In the forest, two men met 3 cowboys. They were such evil people, they treated Tim and his father with guns. During their way back to tavern, Tim and his father were separated for a moment, during that period, Tim's father is kidnapped. Tim uses his bright brain to trick them and avoid from being kidnappd.

Later, the family found out their father is dead in a British ship. Tim, now the owner of the tavern met his brother again. Sam told Tim to kill their cow and hide the meat to avoid them from being stolen by the rebel army. However, Tim hesitant. Eventually, two cattle thefts came and tried to steal the cow. When Sam tried to stop them, the two men told lie to the commander of army that Sam tried to steal the cow. The commander decided to show example to the others. He decided to kill Sam publically. Tim tried to save his brother but he could not make it. Finally, Tim's brother Sam is dead.

I thought Sam would die in the battle as a hero because that was what he wanted. However, he died in no honor. I think this book is one of the most vain story I have ever read.

Young Goodman Brown

Goodman?? Look at the book cover. I might not think of something related to good things. The book cover looks devilish and hellish. Yeah, the story is about devil and Black Mass.

There was Goodman Brown in a town of America. Goodman and his wife, Faith, were the puritans. They had strong belief in Puritan. One day, Goodman was going for an errand an unknown task. Faith, can refer as Goodman's wife and the word faith itself, tried to stop Goodman from going for the journey. When Goodman was turning a corner, he sees this wife is staring at him and scolds himself. Later in the forest, he meets a devil who looks just like from Goodman's grandfather. Goodman tried to endure the devil's wicked whispering. When he said that his ancestors would not do such thing as he was doing, the devil tells him that he knows his grand father, father and mother. Goodman follows the devil. He thinks of his church people and walks away from the devil. However, he meets his church people, even the saint, in the forest. They were going for the Black Mass. They told Goodman that there was a girl joining to the Black Mass. Goodman do not care and takes one step forward. Just then, he listens to Faith's voice. "My Faith is gone..." and just then every thing disappears. The people, the Black Mass area. He was standing alone in the middle of the forest. When he came back to he villiage, he was completely different person. He did not trust any body, even his wife. He lives sorrow and lonely life for rest of his life.

This story was very interesting due to the names. "My Faith is gone..." in this sentence, the readers can find out two different meanings. Firstly, as Faith was going to the Black Mass, Goodman say "My wife is gone" however, in different meaning "My belief is gone"

The land lady

Author: Ronald Dahl

This story also a story of Ronald Dahl. After reading "The hitch hiker", I wished a twist at the end of the story. I was happy to see the twist in the story. As the characters were well described, I could easily imagin the appearence and the charateristics of the characters.

Billy Weaver was traveling through the street. He asked a person walking near him for reconmmendation for an inn. While he was finding a recommanded inn called "Dragon and Bell" he was attracted to an inn. From the start of the story, author tried to show the weirdness of the land lady. For example, right after Billy pressed the bell, the land lady opened the door. Also the author mentioned that she was "Extremely Nice". It is quiet strange to see someone behave something extremely. When Billy see the attendance, he recognizes some of the names. He finds out they were killed by the land lady. The twist of the story is... when Billy asked if there were any other people came here around 2 or 3 years, the land lady said" No my dear" and thought 'Only You~~'

I love Mr.Dahl's story plots and his description people. The best writer is Mr.Dahl!! 'Only you'

The Hitch Hiker

Title: The Hitch Hiker
Author: Ronald Dahl

This story became one of my favorite short stories. This story is quiet twisty and ends with unexpected ending. The plot overview was interesting and the characterization was well descirbed. Also it was quiet amazing to realize that the whole story was taken in a small area, car.

One day, a writer and his hitch hiker drove to London. Hitch Hiker told the writer to drive fast to test the car's maximum speed. However, while they were driving, they are caught by a police.

After the police got writer's driver license, the police told the writer that he will be going to a prison. When the police is gone, they drive and drive. While they were driving toward London, the hitch hiker shows his ability to stealing things to the writer. When the writer ask the hitch hiker that whether he is afraid a bit or not, the hitch hiker shows the polices black note, which contains the writer's address and the hitch hiker's address. He also stole the license back! At the end, both of them are happy and the story ends with happy ending.

When the hitch hiker was showing skills of "finger smith", I thought the hitch hiker would harm the writer. However, actually he was a good man (may be a bad man in public) who helped the writer and do not steal from poor people.

Necklace

This story was very twisty and shocking. I read this story in Koren once and I really like the story.

There was a pretty wife of a husband who were not that strong both politically and econmically. There was a party going on and she really wanted to go there. She asked her friend to rend her a necklace. She dressed up in nice clothes and put on cosmetics. The people in the party looked at her and surprised to see a very pretty woman. After the party, she found out that she lost her friend's necklace. She tried to find out the same one from the store and it was very expensive. She worked soooooo hard to earn that money and gave the necklace to her friend. The friend was shocked to see that the beautiful woman is gone and only a skeleton like woman was there. When the friend heard what happened, she said it was imitation.......

HATCHET

Title: Hatchet

Author: Gary Paulsen

Brian Robeson is a thirteen years old protagonist of this book. He survives on a lonely island alone. This guy read some of the surviving stories so he thought he would survive. Before I start the summary, I would say this book is one of the greatest books I have ever read. I could feel the suspence like when I was reading "And Then there were none". Hatchet(Book) had many foreshadows that I could see the future.

Brian was riding a plane right beside a pilot. He was going to see his divorced parents. When Brian seem very tired, the pilot told Brian to try control the plane. Brian could easily do it with pilot's help. Suddenly, pilot had heart attack and dead. Brian controled the plane by himself but finally, the plane dropped to an island.

Brian lived hard life. He ate a berry and got extremely sick. Later, he built up his shelter. However, there was not thing to eat. He spots a bear near a lake. He think of making fire. He sussceed to make a fire with out match. He learn how to use hatchet. He also learn how to catch fish with spear. He enjoys his feast.

near the lake, Brian was attacked by a moose. He was enjured seriously. He could not use his body properly. He eats the warms to survive. During these kinds of events, Brian became very mature. He went to the crashed plane and found many serviving items.

Many days had passed. When Brian was tring to enjoy his own feastival, he heards an engine near the lake. The helicoper landed on the lake and two men came down. They were looking for Brian corp. When they see Brian, enjoying his feast, the two men were shocked. Dumbfounded and could not comprehend the situation. Brian told the men

"My name is Brian Robeson…. Would you like something to eat?"

Tuesday with Morrie

This book is wrote by Mitch Albom, the author of a book called" The five people you meet in heaven". This book "Tuesday with Morrie" is non- fiction book which contains true story. This book is about a man having "classes" with his dying professor due to the ALS which is debilitating incurable disease. That disease started to ruin his muscles that he could not use his throat to swallow.



Mitch was Morrie's student in Brandeis University. They were very keen to each other. In the day of graduation, Mitch introduced his parents to Morrie. Morrie was very happy to see Mitch's parents and they thought it was the last time seeing each other.

Mitch became very famous especially due to a radio program and also the television programs. Later while Mitch was driving his car, he saw an old man in wheel chair. The two saw each other and they knew that they were Mitch and Morrie. Mitch was to embarassed and refused to believe this situation. However, Mitch goes out of his car and talk with Morrie. They make apoointment to meet each other every tuesday, a day they usually had class at the university.

Every Tuesday, they have different topics to talk about. Their conversations teaches the reader what actually life is and what you shouldn not do. One special thing with Morrie is that although he knows he will die someday not long after due to the disease, he is not afraid of death. He decided not to die with tears but with smile.

I think this book is great book as this book contains many precepts that help the readers to live their life wisely.

Outsiders

Author: Susan Eloise Hinton

This book was composed by S.E. Hiten when she was very young. She began writing this book when she was 15. She published this book when she was 16. When I first read this book, I thought this was written by male. I was surprised when I heard that the author was a young girl. The setting of this book is America in 1960s .This book is about a group of young men living in very bad condition with out their parents but friends. Ponyboy, who is the protagonist and the youngest gang in his gangster group. There are two brothers of Ponyboy.
Darrel Curtis - Ponyboy’s oldest brother. Darrel, known as “Darry”
Sodapop Curtis - Ponyboy’s handsome and charming brother. He is also very good at fighting but he has good mind.
There are also friends of Ponyboy Curtis in the greasers.
Two-Bit Mathews - This guy makes great jokes. He looks kind and funny but he is someone actually proud of his switching blade.
Steve Randle - Randle is Sodapop's best friend. They work together in a gas station. Eventhough Sodapop and Randle is best friend, Ponyboy and Randle do not like each other.

Dallas Winston - is the thoughest guy in Ponyboy's group of greasers. Dallas is called as "Dally" and he use to be a member of the gangster in the darkside of New York.

Johnny Cade - Second youngest member of greasers. This guy is Ponyboy's best friend. He kills a member of Socs to saver Ponyboy. Johnny dies in the hospital after Ponyboy, Johnny and Dallas go to resque the children from the church of fire.

There is another group called Socs who are from the nice family but has mind against the social. They are use to be the enemy of greasers and the 2 groups fight. Greasers fought to get rid of those socs from their territory and the socs fought to get the territory. Greasers win this battle and saves the territory.

Amazing things are this though story was wrote by a young girl and this book does not contain bad words such as "F" word.

Dragon Raja

Author: Lee Young Do

This is another book wrote by Lee Young Do. This books is the leader of Korea's fantazy novels.
I'll introduce the characters first.

Hutch Nedval - The protagonist of the story. Actually, this guy is really weak. However, he gets an item called " Ogre Power Guntlet' which makes a person's strength like an ogre, the strongest creature in melee except Dragons.

Sanson Percival- The guard captain of Heltantm, the village where the story starts. He is a great warrior with great strength. However, he is such a foolish and dum guy except when he is fighting.

Karl Heltant- The half-brother of the Lord of Heltant. He gets a duty to get the money for the victims who were caught by the black dragon living near Heltant.

Iruril Sereniel- An ethereal elf who Hoochie and his company meet during their journey towards the capital. She is also a good warrior and she has respectful knowledge.

Axelhand Eindelf- The Knocker of the dwarves, he is at the highest rank of honor in the dwarf society. He helps the Heltant people alot.

Gilsyon Vyseus- A charismatic prince of Vyseus, he is the rightful heir to the throne. He left the kingdom by himself. He is one of the best warrior in the world.

Unchai Baltan- A spy from Zypern, a country that is currently at war with Vyseus. This guy was caught by Sanson but later he became a member of their adventure. He does not fight. He do not have to fight as he has great skill to make any creature feel an atomsphere of menace. However, he also fights very well.

Neria- 'Neria of the Trident'. She is a thief but prefers the nickname 'Nighthawk'. She tried to rod Hutch but she fails. However, she become the member of the Heltant party.

Aphneidel- A young wizard with too much self doubt. He was against Hutch's party but as Iruril did not kill and gave him encouragement, he became a great magician and joined the party.

Jereint Chimber- 'Teperi's misfortune'. As a priest of Teperi, he has powers to make the 'perfect choice' between a yes or no question. He has very good sense of humour and everyone like him.

Tyburn Highseeker- A mysterious blind mage who stumbles into Heltant during the battle between Cathselprime and Amurtaat. He is the one who gives the guntlet to Hutch. Also there is a twist that this guy is actually a legendary human magician.

Nexon Heuritchel- Son of a Raja and presumed a Raja himself. He is a noble-born with great ambitions. This guy's aim was to destroy Vysus. However, he was actually playing in another witch's hand. The witch kills Nexon Heuritchel and this causes a disaster.

After the war between black dragon and the human in Hiltent, the black dragon require so much money and jewerlies. Karl Hiltent, Sanson, Hutch start their journy to the palace to get the money from their king.

Hutch, Sanson, Karl meets a guy called Tyburn. They just thought of him as a adventurus guy but not more than that.However, he was actually a legendary magicion who is living for more than 400 years. His real name is Hendrake. The party of those 3 people start to travel to the Palace. They meet the orcs which starts to follow them through out their whole journy as enemy. Party meets Iruril, Axelhand during the journy to the capital. They meet Aphneidel too as an enemy. Later, when they arrived, their king says that they do not have money! The reason was that the crimson dragon, which once made Vysus as destruction, is waking up again. The dwerfs who were gaining the golds and silvers ran away already and there is no one to dig up them. Until this journy the party gains Neria, Aphneidel,Axelhand,Iruril, and Unchai. Their new aim was to stop the crazy dragon from destroying the world. They required the "Raja". Rajas are the people with special ability to be the friend of the dragon. The party finally finds Reni, a raja who didn't even know herself was raja. Jereint also joins the party and goes in to the Dragon's miro. They meet the crimson dragon there. However, Nexon, who always disturbed the Hutch's party, was a raja. He became the raja of the crimson dragon. At that time, the witch who came and helped Nexon, kills Nexon. If a dragon loose his or her raja, they go crazy. Crimson dragon starts to destroy everything. At that momment, blue dragon who was met by the party once before appears and demand Reni to be his raja to stop the crimson dragon. They make the dragon and raja's relationship and the two dragons fight. The humans help blue dragon. However, right before the crimson dragon was killed, Hutch saw the crimson dragon's eyes. The eyes were full of tired and Hutch realized that the crimson dragon actually desire to die. The party separate up after the incident, and Hutch comes back. Hutch find out that Tyburn is the legendary magician and It shocked me very much. It was kind of twist in the story. The last scene after the victims were released, as Hutch brought the money from the crimson dragon's storage, the black dragon says "What are your goals now?" before she fly away to the very west to go sleep. Hutch tells her "My role is done now. Refer the first snow as the funeral song, my magical autumn is finished." The black dragon sees him once and smile and flies away.

The Bird That Drinks Tears

This book is wrote by the most famous and most skilled author in Korea. He writes the fiction- fantazy books usually. His books are likely to have philosophical factors.

This book is special because this book is unique. This book does not only have fantazy factors of western such as magic, dragon, elves and orc. However, this book also contains the traditional Korean fantazy factors too such as Dokkebi, a ghosts that appears in the old Korean fantazy. They enjoy Korea's traditional games and foods. They behave good and pure usually but when they see a blood, they go mad and destroy everything. The author also created the characters such as Recon, a bird headed with human body. That creatures are impatient and have amazing strength. However, Recons are afraid of water, any kind of water. Naga is also another creature which does not appear in book usually. They should dismissal their hearts when they are adult. The Nagas can not endure the temperature which are not fit to them.
There is another one called Doo Uk Si Ni. They were the first creature of the world. Their God was "God who can not see himself" and the creatures knew that if they were complete, their God whould disappear. So they remained uncompletely but the other 3 Gods killed the God. So the first creatures were completed and remained as Doo Uk Si Ni and wonder all around the world.

Every creatures have religions.

Humans believe in "God who is nowhere ".
Recons believe in " Goddes who is lower than every one"
Nagas believe in "Goddes who does not make foot print"
Dokkebis believe in "God who kills himself"

The language they use is based of ancient Korean languages(Arazit)

The main story of this book is adventure of Kaigon Draka(Human) Bihyung Slavle(Dokkebi)Tinahan(Recon) and Ryun Pei(naga). Kaigon Draka, Bihyung Slavle, Tinahan are the rescue party which was formed by monks to rescue Ryun Pei, who was seem as th treason to the nagas as he didn't dismissal his heart.

A Raisin In The Sun

The book I'm reading is a....play.. may be and the title is "A Raisin In The Sun". Actually... I'm not enjoying it but I'm reading it for my homework for English academy. However, I feel this book is going to be more interesting.

This book deals with racism and sexism. A black family is living with their white neighbors and feels the racism by them. Also Benethia, who is a daughter of 'Mama', had to fold her dream. Her dream was to be a doctor. However, the family members says that the female doctors are not respected and force her to fold her dream.

At the end, the family moves to new place and the last scene is 'Mama' put on her coat and opens the main gate.

The Separate Peace

Author: John Knowles

When I first read this book, I thought " This can be used as fuel for people to endure the coldness of winter!" This book was that kind of boring. Each ten pages I read, I wanted to tear the book.

I read this book for 2 times. I did not wanted to read this again but I did and I felt the difference. I could find out a lot of foreshadows, and kind of suspense during some specific scences.

This book is about hate and love between friends during the time of WWII. Finny was a naughty boy who were loved by every one in the campus. He was good at sport, talking to the others and listening to what others say. Gene was also popular but he usually focused on his study. However, they were best friend to each other.

One day Finny, Gene and Leper, who is actually Lepellus(Leper is his nick name), form a committe. The committe is called "Super Suicide Society of the Summer Session". The members had to throw themselves from a hight tree to a river beside the tree.

Here is the problem. Gene thinks that Finny is disturbing him to lower Gene's grade. However, Finny says it's not true and stop disturb Gene when he is studying. Gene realizes that Finny is a great guy. However, as he hated himself and felt guilty for his behavior, doubt of his best friend, he shakes the branch when Finny is up. Finny falls down and he was sentenced to stop doing physical activities, which was his only pleasure.

Later, when the court was on to find out the truth of the incident, Finny realizes that Gene was the one who did and he refuges to believe the truth.

At the end of the book, Gene narrates that Finny is dead when he was fixing his bone and 15 years have been past since that incident.

And Then There Were None

Title: And Then There Were None

Author:Agatha Christie

This book was very exciting. The genre of this book is detective story wrote by a famous author in that genre. May be this is the first book I really felt the flow and the suspense of the story.

There are many characters in this book. Anthony James Marston, Mrs. Ethel Rogers, General John Gordon Macarthur, Mr. Thomas Rogers, Emily Caroline Brent, Justice Lawrence Wargrave, Dr. Edward George Armstrong, William Henry Blore, Philip Lombard, Vera Elizabeth Claythorne are the ten victims.

Every those ten were gathered on an island. Every day, people started to die one by one and every time someone die, one of the ten Indian figures disappears. The victims try to find out who the killer is. However, they all fail. The story does not tell who was the murderer but there is the truth of the whole story on the epilogue at the end of the book.

I really love the suspense and the twisting of the story. I will reconmend this book to everyone in my class. I am not going to tell who the murderer is.
